The city is a mirror. A mirror of identical lives, identical good mornings and good nights. Every man lost at a crossing is you, every orphan begging for alms is yours, every glassy stare from its footpaths yours alone. You stalk the crowd and the crowd stalks you graciously in return. There is no coming home to, there is no leaving to go. Everyone’s a stranger, everyone’s close. As intriguing as the newspaper, until the date stamp holds.
